See our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texastribune.org\/about\/ethics\/#ai-policy\">AI policy<\/a>, and give us <a href=\"https:\/\/airtable.com\/appFeleeKVUN0Iytx\/pagPG40gbkU0EfjIr\/form\">feedback<\/a>.<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Texas lawmakers in 2025 redrew the state\u2019s congressional districts in an unusual mid-decade redistricting effort pushed by President Donald Trump to gain more Republican seats in the U.S. House.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 2025 map is now at the center of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texastribune.org\/2025\/12\/02\/texas-redistricting-map-us-supreme-court-2026-midterms\/\">legal battle<\/a>, but the U.S. Supreme Court ruled Dec. 4 that Texas could use the new map for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texastribune.org\/2026\/01\/13\/texas-voting-guide-2026\/\">2026 primaries<\/a> while that fight plays out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The proposed districts, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texastribune.org\/2025\/08\/29\/greg-abbott-signs-texas-congressional-map-redistricting\/\">signed into law<\/a> by Gov. Greg Abbott, were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texastribune.org\/2025\/08\/18\/texas-redistricting-maps-charts-analysis\/\">designed to give <\/a>the GOP five more U.S. House seats in the 2026 midterms. Groups representing Black and Latino voters have <a href=\"http:\/\/wetexastribune.org\/2025\/08\/29\/greg-abbott-signs-texas-congressional-map-redistricting\/\">filed lawsuits<\/a> to stop the new maps from going into effect claiming that they discriminate against voters of color.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained
